Not every guitar performs as it should. To achieve that studio-quality sound and playability, your guitar needs a professional setup.
Guitar manufacturers recommend having your guitar professionally set up at least once a year. Depending on how much you play, it may even need a setup every six months. Even brand-new guitars require setups. Often, guitars are shipped from the manufacturer to the store where you purchased them, and during that journey, they experience changes in climate and humidity. These variations can affect the adjustments made at the factory, meaning the specs may no longer be accurate.
Guitars are made of wood, which is hygroscopic; it continually absorbs and releases moisture, causing the wood to shrink and expand. Once your guitar arrives at your home, it must adjust to your specific humidity levels and temperature. We recommend letting your guitar acclimate for a few weeks before bringing it in for a setup. There’s nothing more discouraging than a guitar that doesn’t sound or feel right. Unlock your instrument’s full potential with a professional setup. If you’re considering selling a guitar, a well-adjusted instrument is much more appealing to buyers than a buzzy one. A small investment in a professional setup can lead to a quicker sale and a better price.
For optimal results, we recommend using a new set of strings during the setup. Even if you’ve just put on a new set, we require a specific length of string for our setup process. If your strings are cut and wound, we may not have the length we need. Typically, we can use the same strings for bass guitars. You can bring your own new strings or purchase them from us.
